"Thunderface" (thunderface)

Where does one find them? How much do they cost? Are they legal? Which ones are the best kind? How are they installed? Are they good? Is it worth it? How are they to live with? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

Assuming by "cherry bomb" you mean "glass pack"
1.) Summit Racing
2.) Not that much
3.) Yes aside from noise ordinances
4.) A real muffler is best. Cherry Bomb is probably the best glasspack manufacturer. Thrush is another. The fiberglass packing blows out over time. They are a straight through design and as such they are noisy. They usually flow pretty well.
5.) Some love 'em, some hate them. Not the greatest for longevity
6.) Not to me. I like the sound on SOME cars but not all of them. Gotta have a V8 IMO.
7.) The noise can get old fast. Can drone like a motherfucker.

My buddy had one on his Legacy, removed it within a few days because it just sounded cheap and tinny.

legality is based on your state's laws.
I believe in Michigan you can be given a ticket if you are over 90 decibels in a CAR from 100 feet away.
My Montego is at 86 at idle right next to the car so you'd have to put significant effort to get over 90 at 100 feet.
What are you putting them on? And I would suggest they aren't the best mufflers...

That'd be the car's fault (gotta have a v8)

I think summit racing sells them, no clue on cost never have ran then, I prefer flowmasters on my vintage V8s.
What are you going to be installing these on? The install with either exhaust clamps or weld them in.
All they really are is a fancy name glass pak. It's a piece of pipe stuffed with fiberglass insulation and the another pipe drilled with lots of holes. They do eventually burn out.

Every independent muffler shop should have them. They're clamped or welded. They wear out. They drone. In VA any exhaust change is technically illegal but no one cares. I prefer other mufflers, but I've run packs before.

idk how they would sound on a late model motor, our 56 chevy has glass packs on it and it sounds right for a vintage period car. They di have drone so a long drive could be not so much fun.
What a glass pack sounds like:
I have chambered exhaust on my 98 SS, it's pretty much just a crimped piece of pipe. Sounds good. Biggest sound killer is the cat converter.

The fact is that V8's sound better.

I'd also recommend Flowmaster over Cherry Bomb. My P71 came with a pair of them and it sounded great.
Though we did use a Cherry Bomb instead of a true resonator on our GRM $2004 Challenge Saturn...

They're pretty simple actually....
1) Add Cherry Bombs to your sweet ride
2) Act surprised at all of the ladies' undies strewn about your bedroom.

Generally sound awful unless you have headers and a V8.

1) in the 60's and pre gas crunch 70's
2) whatever you are willing to pay for them.
3) mostly
4)cherrybombs are the best kind of cherrybombs.
5) first you get some ceramic coated headers, run as straight a pipe as you can from the ends of those to about 2 and a half feet from the outside of your car. Put em there so a little bit sticks out of your car.
6) on the right car, nothing better.
7) on the right car, yes
8) I wouldn't get betrothed but friends with benefits definitely.
P.S. the fiberglass in them just muffles the noise. Get rid of it.

You are canadian right? Canadian Tire has them they are $30-$35 each you need 2-1/4" ones if my memory serves me right for P71 Crown Victoria. Because the crown vic has 4 cats it muffles the sound just enough to sound amazing it sounds very similar to a magnaflow exhaust. 10/10 would buy again for p71 crown vic.

I used to have a pair on my old Delta 88. They were glorious and on the highway it would drone, but not in a bad way, think of the sound of an old WWII fighter at cruising speed, but you gotta have a v8. Less than that would just be....less.

Cherry bomb is but one manufacturer or "glasspacks". They sound better than anything else you can install on a given car. There are different lengths and o.d.'s. Larger o.d.'s have a larger i.d. for better flow-but louder volume. I get the largest and longest that will fit for the best compromise between volume and performance. Some are manufactured with Steel Wool and won't blow out or get louder over time. It's a cheap experiment. Give it a shot and you're not out much money if you don't like it. Borlas are a lot more expensive, but similar in concept (except nested for more surface area against the packing material).
